Building Renovation and Fit-Out

For 220 years the Pennsylvania Prison Society has advocated on behalf of people in prison and their families.

Over ten years ago, Mr. Elia had the opportunity to serve on the board of Eastern State Penitentiary with the Pennsylvania Prison Society president. During this time the Pennsylvania Prison Society requested Mr. Elia's assistance on this renovation project while Mr. Elia was engaged at another firm.

The services provided on this project included site evaluations, space planning, developing the project budget, design and documentation of a new Broad Street façade, the interior architectural design of the Pennsylvania Prison Society offices and coordination of the project team of consultants.

The interiors were completely abated for hazardous materials, interior walls and building systems demolished, and new fit-out completed on schedule. The new façade included new energy efficient insulated glazing and a true three coat stucco cladding while re-using existing marble slabs found on site.
